This is a wonderful country villa in a super location near the Puig de Maria mountain on the edge of Pollença old town, just a five-minute walk into the historic centre. It's a traditional villa full of Mallorcan character and with clean modern styling inside.

The house is built from stone and stucco, painted in a very pretty ochre colour. Inside, it's bright and cool - all the rooms are air-conditioned - in a classic modern-Mallorcan design. There are some stone walls and some white-painted walls, with terracotta-tiled and wooden floors, and high beamed ceilings. On the ground floor there's a long and wide living and dining room, with two comfortable sofas, satellite tv, dvd and stereo. The dining area has a long dining table and chairs and an open fireplace.

The bright and airy kitchen has lots of storage space in fitted cupboards, another dining table and chairs, and stainless steel appliances including a dishwasher and a large fridge-freezer. There's a separate laundry area too. Also here on the ground floor there's a toilet-cloakroom.

On the first floor there are three lovely bedrooms - a double room and two twin rooms. They're cool and spacious with bright white linen, fitted wardrobes and terrific views over the gardens to mountains. The double bedroom has an en-suite bathroom and its own roof terrace. There's also a full bathroom on this floor, with a bath and a shower.

The garden at Villa Cal Nillo is very pretty - and family-friendly. There are lawns, tall trees and Mediterranean plants, and a long pool - all looking across fields and groves of citrus trees to Pollença old town, with mountains beyond. There's a long shady covered terrace with lots of garden furniture, and a brick barbecue and bread oven. This is a great place to eat and relax outside from breakfast right through the day into the evening. Also in the garden there's an outside pool-shower bathroom and a utility area. One side of the villa is close to a road but the house has a long driveway, with its own gate, and the thick stone walls keep the house very quiet inside.

Villa Cal Nillo is a great house, very well cared-for and incredibly popular with families and groups of friends who return here year after year on holiday. It's also on the other side of the road from Finca Nillo (id 332) so large groups of up to 12 people could stay together at the two villas. Few villas have such a super location, in the countryside but only a few minutes' walk from the heart of Pollença's historic old town. And beaches and the sea are just a short drive away at Puerto Pollença.
