Son del Rio is a delightful country villa with sweeping views over the bay of Puerto Pollenca. The house and gardens have been built to a bold naturalistic design making extensive use of local stonework. It's in a very private location up a hillside lane. The beautifully laid out gardens have lots of different areas to explore - lawns, sunny terrace, shady trees, a swing and even a separate pool-house. A furnished beamcovered terrace in front of the house overlooks the pool and has spectacular views over woods down to the sea and distant mountains. Around the side of the house there's a second sunny terrace with a built-in stone barbecue. The pool itself is a naturalistic curved shape, carved out of the rock of the hillside. It has a very shallow area which is ideal for young children to splash around in. Inside, the house has thick stone walls and deep windowsills. It's decorated and furnished in classically cool Mallorcan style, with pale coloured walls, darkwood furniture and terracotta-tiled floors. All the rooms are at ground level. There's a lounge with satellite television and a dvd player. The kitchen-diner has appliances including a dishwasher, a microwave and a ceramic hob. The dining area has an elegant antique Mallorcan table and chairs and two lovely dark-wood dressers. There is also a utility room for laundry and a separate wc bathroom. There are three bedrooms at Son del Rio - a double room and a twin room in the main house and a romantic air-conditioned double room in the poolside casita. The bedrooms in the main house share a full bathroom with a bath and a shower and the pool-house bedroom has an en-suite shower room. Son del Rio is a peaceful and private house in a wonderful country location. It's a lovely place to spend the whole day swimming, taking country walks and relaxing in the gardens and yet it's just a 10-minute drive from Pollenca, the beach at Puerto Pollen¨a and shops and supermarkets.
