Casa Guiraud is a historic 19th-century Mallorcan mansion-house in the heart of the old town of Pollenca. It's in a very peaceful place, hidden away in one of Pollenca's characteristic narrow lanes but is just minutes from the Placa Major square. Casa Giraud has been renovated to an exceptionally high standard. It's designed and decorated in classic Mallorcan style with high ceilings, stone archways, medieval doors, whitewashed walls and dark wood furniture. The house is owned by local artist Pep Torrandell and his paintings (some for sale!) and his family's collection of antiques are on display around the house. Everything about Casa Guiraud is grand - from the flagstone entrance hall to the stunning courtyard garden and pool. The house is on three levels with wonderful views over the courtyard from every floor and over the rooftops of Pollenca from the upper floors. On the lower level the entrance hall leads to a comfortable lounge area with an arched picture window and a woodburning stove set into a stone fireplace. There's a farmhousestyle kitchen with dark wood units and Mallorcan country tiling. Appliances here include a dishwasher, a fridge-freezer, a hob and oven and a microwave, and there's also a walk-in pantry. The washing machine is in a separate utility room on the top floor. Also on this lower level is a double bedroom with airconditioning and a pretty bathroom with marble surfaces. Both the lounge and kitchen have doors out onto the pool and courtyard garden. There is a large awning here above the lounge window to keep the villa cool and provide welcome shade from the sun. This is a beautiful, tranquil and very private space sheltered by high stone walls, with lots of stylish terrace furniture and a stone barbecue and cooking area. The courtyard also captures the sunshine until late afternoon. On the first floor there are three bedrooms - a double room and two twin rooms, all decorated simply and elegantly and with antique furniture. On this level there's also a fabulous bathroom in marble and old brick with a jacuzzi bath. There's another single bedroom on the second floor leading to a terrace which looks down onto the courtyard and pool and across the rooftops of Pollenca. The owner Pepe's painting studio is also on this floor and heÕs happy to show guests his new work here. Casa Guiraud is one of the most beautiful and historic houses in Pollenca's old town. It's in a wonderful location and its courtyard design means that it's also a very private and peaceful place to stay. All the cafes, restaurants, shops and galleries of Pollenca are close by and the beaches of Puerto Pollenca and the pretty countryside of this part of the island are only a short drive away.
